Sandra has been on staff at since 1988. She has served in several capacities and now works as our Music Director.

A life long member of The Church of the Ascension, I  was so excited to become a chorister in the Junior Choir when I was eight. Choir was my whole life and I was so lucky to be surrounded by a faithful parish family who helped me to grow in the Light of Christ. I continued in choir ministry as a chorister in the Senior Choir until I was called to my present position.

I have served my parish as a lay reader and Eucharistic minister, Sunday School teacher, served on women’s guilds , altar guild and was the musician for the Brandywine Parishes Vacation Bible School for  many years.

I studied piano with the late Blema J. Tatman, and was inspired to play organ by the late Mabel Bard Pierce, and the late J. Harrison Walker. At Westminster Choir College, I took classes  to become a licenced Kindermusick  teacher and I was fortunate to take a workshop with the  late Helen Kemp an extraordinary master teacher of creative teaching pedagogy for young singers. I recently semi retired from St. David’s Episcopal Day School after twenty six years, but I still work as their music specialist, helping the children prepare for their Halloween and Christmas Programs and playing music for their weekly chapel service.

At Calvary Church, I served as Junior Choir Director from 1988 until the summer of 1996 and my great grandparents on both sides of my father’s family were members of Grace Church,  so I feel a connection with all three parishes.

My husband Gilbert and I have three daughters, three son in laws, three grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
